Anaemia III

The anaemia profile III is a comprehensive blood test designed to provide an in-depth evaluation of various factors contributing to anaemia. This profile measures a wide range of biomarkers related to iron metabolism and red blood cell production, offering detailed insights into the causes of anaemia and related conditions. Who is this profile for? This profile is suitable for individuals who are experiencing symptoms of anaemia, such as fatigue, weakness, pallor, or dizziness. It is also useful for those with chronic health conditions that may impact iron metabolism or blood health, as well as for monitoring and managing vitamin deficiencies. What can be detected? The anaemia profile III provides a thorough assessment of factors affecting red blood cell health and iron levels, including: Transferrin saturation: Indicates the proportion of transferrin (an iron-binding protein) that is bound with iron, helping to evaluate iron availability. Transferrin: Measures the level of transferrin, which plays a key role in transporting iron in the blood. Full blood count (FBC) + differential: Provides information on the quantity and quality of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, aiding in the diagnosis of various blood disorders. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR): Helps detect inflammation or other underlying health issues. Iron: Assesses iron levels in the blood, crucial for hemoglobin production. Ferritin: Measures stored iron levels in the body, providing insights into iron reserves. Vitamin B12: Evaluates vitamin B12 levels, important for red blood cell formation and neurological function. Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC): Determines the blood’s capacity to bind and transport iron. Folate: Measures levels of folic acid, essential for red blood cell production and DNA synthesis. Unsaturated iron-binding capacity (UIBC): Assesses the reserve capacity of transferrin to bind iron, helping to evaluate iron deficiency. When to get tested Consider this profile if you have symptoms of anaemia or suspect deficiencies in iron, folate, or vitamin B12. It is also recommended for monitoring chronic conditions that affect blood health or for routine evaluations to maintain optimal nutrient levels and overall well-being. Fasting requirements Fasting is generally not required for this test. However, follow any specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider to ensure the most accurate results. Key benefits The anaemia profile III offers a detailed evaluation of red blood cell health and iron metabolism, providing crucial information on various markers involved in anaemia. By assessing a comprehensive set of indicators, this test supports accurate diagnosis, effective management, and treatment of anaemia and related conditions, helping to address deficiencies and maintain overall health.

No lab test is 100% accurate. However, medical testing that takes place in certified laboratories in the U.S. is performed by trained professionals and follows rigorous quality assurance standards with extensive oversight. You can trust the data generated by today’s exacting medical tests. However, test results are most reliable when used in conjunction with other meaningful information, such as your medical and family histories and a physical exam. Additionally, there should be open communication between you and your doctor or other members of your health care team.
Turnaround time for most of the tests is up to 24 hours, however the tests such as genetic, virology, STI’s… will take from 5 days to 2 weeks
Typically, a blood sample is taken by inserting a needle into a vein, usually in your arm. Before your blood is drawn, an elastic band is tied around your upper arm to increase blood in the veins, and the puncture location is wiped clean with an antiseptic. A blood draw using a needle may cause a temporary sting. The blood draw normally lasts for less than a minute.
