Andropause profile

The Andropause Profile is a specialized blood test designed to evaluate hormone levels and metabolic factors associated with andropause, often referred to as male menopause. This profile provides insights into hormonal changes that can affect energy levels, mood, and overall well-being in men as they age. What is the Andropause Profile? The Andropause Profile includes the following tests: Albumin: A protein in the blood that helps assess overall health and liver function. Testosterone Free Calculated: Measures the amount of free (active) testosterone available in the blood. Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S): A hormone produced by the adrenal glands that plays a role in hormone balance. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH): Important for reproductive health and hormone regulation. Testosterone: The primary male sex hormone that affects various aspects of health and vitality. Free androgen index (FAI): Provides insight into the level of free testosterone relative to sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). Luteinizing hormone (LH): Regulates testosterone production and overall reproductive function. Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG): A protein that binds to sex hormones and affects their availability. Indications for testing This profile is recommended for men experiencing: Symptoms of andropause: Such as decreased libido, fatigue, mood swings, and loss of muscle mass. Hormonal imbalances: To assess testosterone levels and related hormones. Fertility issues: When evaluating factors affecting reproductive health. Metabolic concerns: To understand how hormonal changes might be influencing overall well-being. What can be detected? The Andropause Profile helps in: Identifying hormonal imbalances: By measuring key hormones and proteins involved in male reproductive health. Assessing testosterone levels: Including both total and free testosterone to evaluate its impact on symptoms. Evaluating DHEA-S levels: To understand its role in overall hormonal balance and health. Detecting changes in SHBG and FAI: Which can affect the availability and function of testosterone in the body. Fasting requirements Fasting is not required for the Andropause Profile. You can eat and drink normally before the test. Key benefits The Andropause Profile offers a comprehensive assessment of hormonal and metabolic factors related to andropause. By providing detailed information on testosterone levels, DHEA-S, and other key indicators, this profile supports the accurate diagnosis and effective management of symptoms associated with male hormonal changes. It helps in creating a targeted approach to improve overall health and quality of life.

No, there is no need for a doctor’s request to book. However, it’s recommended to discuss your symptoms with your GP.
No lab test is 100% accurate. However, medical testing that takes place in certified laboratories in the U.S. is performed by trained professionals and follows rigorous quality assurance standards with extensive oversight. You can trust the data generated by today’s exacting medical tests. However, test results are most reliable when used in conjunction with other meaningful information, such as your medical and family histories and a physical exam. Additionally, there should be open communication between you and your doctor or other members of your health care team.
Turnaround time for most of the tests is up to 24 hours, however the tests such as genetic, virology, STI’s… will take from 5 days to 2 weeks
Typically, a blood sample is taken by inserting a needle into a vein, usually in your arm. Before your blood is drawn, an elastic band is tied around your upper arm to increase blood in the veins, and the puncture location is wiped clean with an antiseptic. A blood draw using a needle may cause a temporary sting. The blood draw normally lasts for less than a minute.
