Coagulation Plus
The Coagulation Profile II is a specialized blood test designed to assess the efficiency of your blood clotting system. This profile provides crucial information about how well your body forms and manages blood clots, which is essential for diagnosing and managing various bleeding and clotting disorders.
What is the Coagulation Plus?
Who Is This Test For?
This profile is recommended for individuals with symptoms of abnormal bleeding or clotting, such as frequent bruising, excessive bleeding from minor injuries, or unexplained blood clots. It is also useful for patients on blood-thinning medications, those preparing for surgery, or individuals with known or suspected clotting disorders. What Does It Measure?
Coagulation Plus includes:- Prothrombin Time (PT) / INR: Measures how long blood takes to clot and helps monitor anticoagulant therapy while assessing liver-related clotting function.
- Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT): Evaluates the intrinsic clotting pathway and identifies clotting factor deficiencies or inhibitors.
- Fibrinogen: Assesses levels of fibrinogen, a key protein required for clot formation. Abnormal levels may indicate bleeding or thrombotic conditions.
- D-Dimer: Measures clot breakdown products in the blood and helps detect active clot formation and breakdown, commonly used to assess conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE).
When Should You Get Tested?
This test is recommended if you experience unexplained bleeding or clotting, are receiving anticoagulant treatment, have a clotting-related condition, or require pre-operative evaluation. It is also useful for ongoing monitoring of clotting disorders.Fasting Requirements
No fasting is required for this test.Key Benefits

How to prepare
Sample Timing
Attend between 7am and 12pm where possible. Wait until any illness has fully resolved. Avoid intense exercise for 24–48 hours beforehand, as this can affect certain markers.
Fasting & Hydration
Fasting is not always required, but some tests may recommend it. If fasting is advised, avoid food for 8–12 hours and drink water only. Stay well hydrated for accurate sample collection.
Medications & Supplements
Continue prescribed medications unless advised otherwise. Avoid vitamin, mineral, or biotin supplements for at least 24–48 hours before your test, as these can interfere with results.
Hormones & Menstrual Cycle
For hormone-related tests, timing within your menstrual cycle may be important. Follow the specific guidance provided in your booking confirmation email.
